Generative Art

    Generative Art

Kasper Jordaens’ artistic practice is rooted in the hacker culture where technology is liberated from its intended use and the freedom to operate and use technology for the purpose of new applications is encouraged. Hacking involves disrupting the status quo and challenging artificial limits on technology set by business or political actors. So called hacktivism challenges how society adopts and uses (new) technologies. From there it is a small leap to generative art.

The roots of my generative art works date back from when I was a kid when I exploited a system to generate pixel art from my drawings. It was sent to a teletext processor and shown in my biggest expo up until now as it was included in a europe wide teletext broadcast (translated for every locality). I have since then inverted my approach and now often aim for a more analogue output and a digital input.
