    Wandering trough the mountains near Marseille, I was wondering how nature and technology collaboprate. On my run I encountered the not so unusual sight of a pylon carrying cables across the mountain top. The work of T.O.P. Office / Luc Delue - "Schaal and perspectief" tought me how huge these things really are.

    I was always fascinated by Pylons. (Shukhov Towers to name a specific type). Pylons are not only very big. They are also very small.

    Experiences like this teach us that everything is very relative. But I'm drifting away abit from the core topic here. I started photographing these pylons today, because of the way they interact with their organic environment. Making me wonder how technology and nature get along. They are very impactfull to the view, littering the sky. They were never meant to be good looking. They are an excersize of efficiency. Time was invested to give them certain properties for the least money possible.

    Their task is simple.They have to stand and withstand the forces of nature. Their properties are almost entirely dictated by physics. Economics are important too, but secondary nonetheless.

    The mountains, by their scale and flow, dictate where pylons can be placed. The pylons by their limitations fill these spots. This interaction is what is tickling my brain. The trees have less complications when it comes to picking a spot on these mountains (below the tree line), they always look harmonic. If you keep from judging the fact that it's a pity we need to place these pylons, would you be able to look at them the same way was you look at trees?

    What would they look like if they further fused with nature? How would they fuse with nature? What other ways are there to fuse the engineering protocols with the aleatoric protocols from nature?

    What if we help a bit with AI, looking into experiments to fuse nature and tech. Needs more work, but limited due to mobile compute...
