NetGlitch (2009)
The generative art scene has always been a good neighbor for hacking culture, sharing the love for creative use of technology. It’s with this artistic installation an interactive hacking tool that was shown at the “CCC Chaos Communication Camp - Hacking at random conference” and featured on “noise vs subversive computing #001” that I leapt out of hacktivism into the generative art scene. This legacy of hacktivism, where I was made aware of data storage practices and its implications on society gave me my paint. Data. Connected sources of knowledge waiting to be exposed and visualized or sonified. From merely exposing the sources as is being done in hacktivism to creating with it requires a leap where you need to build your own tools to convert and use the data in a more intuitive way.
